On August 28, 2019, a heated controversy surrounding Neno Evangelism founder James Ng'ang'a erupted after male congregants of his church issued a demand letter for him to apologize over comments made during a Sunday service.

According to Nairobi-based preacher Godfrey Migwi, who recently interacted with Ng'ang'a, the televangelist appears to be struggling with his mental health.

"We met at Total Petrol Station Hurlingham opposite Silver Springs hotel. We shook hands since he was in a hurry, but those minutes we talked I discovered this is not the same Ng'an'ga from Mombasa, who relocated to Nairobi," Migwi claimed.

Migwi further stated that Ng'ang'a might be battling depression and should seek professional assistance, offering to provide counseling services for free.

"My advice to you Mr Ng'ang'a is that you need to see a doctor; a psychiatrist. You need a counsellor and I can offer that for free. You need someone who can advise you on how to manage your anger. I respect you as my father," Migwi said.

Ng'ang'a's church has been at the center of controversy in recent times, with the pastor facing criticism for his behavior and comments during services.
