On August 27, 2019, Kaizer Chiefs demonstrated their resilience in a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Cape Town City at Newlands Stadium. The match got off to a strong start for City, who broke the deadlock in the fourth minute.

Cape Town City's Ebrahim Seedat played a crucial role in the opening goal, threading a ball down the inside left-channel for Kermit Erasmus. Erasmus expertly cut inside past Erick Mathoho before beating Daniel Akpeyi at the goalmouth.

However, Kaizer Chiefs refused to give up and fought back to secure a crucial win. The victory further solidified their position at the top of the Absa Premiership standings.
