Pastor Arrested for Alleged Rape of Four Girls in Jomvu Church

On August 25, 2019, police arrested a 43-year-old pastor in Kanaona village, Jomvu, after he fled when residents threatened to storm the church and lynch him.

The pastor, who was the Sunday school teacher and martial arts instructor for the children, was accused of sexually assaulting four girls aged between four and eight.

A medical report from Port Reitz Hospital confirmed the children had been sexually assaulted.

According to Jomvu police boss James Mutua, the suspect was yet to be arraigned, and police were extending their investigations to determine if the suspect had been doing this for long and whether there were other victims.

Separately, police impounded bhang worth Sh5 million in Mombasa on Sunday night, just hours after seven suspects, including a female police officer, were arrested in Mombasa and Kwale counties with cocaine and heroin worth Sh18 million.
