On May 26th, 2015, Founder of Bitok Foundation Paul Bitok launched the 10th edition of AMACO International Volleyball Tournament in Nairobi.
Fast forward to the present, Bitok is now the head coach of the national women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, who are set to face Nigeria in the African Games semi-final tonight (7 pm) in Rabat, Morocco.
Despite being the record African champions, Bitok wants his players to remain focused and avoid complacency as they clash with Group A runners-up Nigeria in their title defense bid.
‘I am happy with the performance of the team so far. However, those group stage wins are now behind us, our next match matters most. As we head into the semifinals, I would like to encourage my team to stay focused throughout and avoid complacency,’ said Bitok.
Bitok believes that Nigeria are no pushovers and that his team must keep working hard and smart while following the technical bench game plan and strategy.
Assistant captain Noel Murambi is equally prepared for a difficult tie tonight, but with a ‘relaxed’ mood in the camp, he is optimistic of sailing through to the final.
‘Of course we are the favourites, but that doesn’t mean we can underrate Nigeria. They also came here to compete and are in the semis by merit,’ said Murambi.
