Butali Warriors Claim Top Spot in Kenya Hockey League

On August 28, 2019, Butali Warriors secured a 6-0 victory over Parklands Hockey Club, claiming the top spot in the Kenya Hockey Union League.

The Western-based side's impressive performance saw Calvins Kanu and George Mutira each score a brace, while Ammoh Bari and Frank Wanagwe contributed a goal each.

With six wins out of nine matches, Butali Warriors have accumulated 21 points, four more than Kenya Police, who have 17 points from nine games.

Wazalendo are tied with Kenya Police on 17 points, but Kenya Police have a wider goal difference.

Butali Warriors' win condemned Parklands to the bottom of the summit, with only six points from nine games.

The team's coach, Kamal Singh Sambi, expressed gratitude to the team's departments for their efforts, stating, "I want to thank all the departments for putting on efforts to enable the side win, we are now perched at the top of the summit and want to maintain that status."

Four of Butali Warriors' players, Shammah Ademba, Ammoh Bari, Tristin Karis, and Constant Wakhura, have been nominated to represent team Kenya in the Africa Olympic qualifier games in South Africa.
