As I reflect on my journey as an entrepreneur, I am reminded of the importance of pursuing one's passions and dreams. I recall a story of a young man who wanted to own a hospital, but his parents insisted he study medicine. This is a common dilemma many young people face, and it's a topic I've discussed before.

However, it's not just about playing it safe; it's about realizing your potential and living a happier life. I've seen this firsthand through my work with the Kaka Empire Foundation, where we've been raising funds for sanitary towels for girls who miss school. Our recent walk from Nairobi to Nakuru was a huge success, and it's amazing what the human body can do when pushed.

During our stop at Laikipia University, I had the opportunity to talk to a group of students about their dreams and aspirations. What struck me was that five out of seven students were not pursuing their true passions, but rather what they thought was 'safe.' This got me thinking about the importance of taking risks and pursuing one's dreams.

As I shared my own story of pursuing my passions and turning them into successful businesses, I emphasized the importance of research and planning. Before starting any venture, it's essential to know who you are, what you're capable of, and what you want to achieve. This will help you create a solid foundation for your business and ensure that you're making informed decisions.

Another key aspect of success is teamwork. Having a team behind you can bring efficiency, creativity, and new perspectives to your business. However, it's also essential to know when to exit a team member and bring in someone with different strengths.

Finally, I emphasized the importance of starting small. This means beginning with what you have, learning the basics of your trade, and growing step by step. It's not about being impatient and expecting overnight success; it's about being patient, persistent, and willing to learn.

As I concluded my talk, I encouraged the students to keep their dreams big, but to emphasize the small steps they need to take to achieve them. It's a message that I believe resonates with many young people who are struggling to find their place in the world.
