Published on August 27, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two Tanzanian nationals and a Kenyan for allegedly defrauding a Nairobi couple of Ksh.2 million.
The suspects, Titus Fedha, Haji Shariff, and Suleiman Salum, claimed that a piece of land belonging to Mr. Harbans Singh in Westlands, Nairobi, had evil spirits, including a snake and witchcraft paraphernalia.
They allegedly convinced Singh and his wife to part with the money for buying special oil to burn the snake, after which the suspects disappeared.
However, detectives raided a house in Kileleshwa belonging to Haji Shariff and recovered a suitcase containing the witchcraft paraphernalia.
The three suspects denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000 each. The case will be heard on September 26.
