On August 27, 2019, Gor Mahia FC announced the termination of striker Dennis Oliech's contract over alleged serious and persistent cases of misconduct.
The club cited Oliech's poor performance on the pitch and serial absence from training without permission as the reasons for his premature ouster from the record Kenyan champions.
According to a letter posted on the club's official website, attempts to reach out to Oliech did not bear fruit, leaving the club with no other alternative.
“The club officially wrote to the player informing him of the step to end his contract and promised to settle his dues,” the letter stated.
The club also cited Oliech's performances as one of the reasons why they decided to end their association with the former Harambee Stars captain.
“It was the best way to part ways. We had no other option because his conduct in recent weeks had reached another level,” Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda told Goal.
Coach Steven Polack also claimed he had never seen the striker since he penned a contract to coach Gor Mahia, saying he didn’t even know if Oliech was a Gor Mahia player or not.
