Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have parted ways with legendary striker Dennis Oliech, just months after signing him on a two-year deal in January 2019.

The decision to terminate Oliech's contract comes after the club accused him of serious misconduct, including missing training sessions without prior permission.

According to a statement posted on K'Ogalo's website, Oliech was found guilty of misconduct and had been performing poorly on the field.

The statement read: "You are and have been guilty of serious misconduct and continued poor performance on the field of play especially you have without reason therefore and without prior permission from the head coach, the team manager or any other duly authorized club official absented yourself on numerous diverse days from training thereby denying the club the opportunity to field you as a striker."

Additionally, the club's decision to end their association with Oliech was also influenced by his alleged plans to run for the vacant Kibra parliamentary seat.

Gor Mahia believes that Oliech's move into politics would cause discontent among fans and potentially paint the club in a bad light.

"You have offered yourself as a candidate for popular political elections, a move likely to portray the club in a bad light, cause disaffection among club’s supporters and fans," the club submitted.
