On August 27, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta designated Deputy Controller of Budget Stephen Masha to act as Controller of Budget, following the expiry of Agnes Odhiambo's eight-year term.
Ms. Odhiambo, who boasts 30 years of experience in financial management, was appointed the first Controller of Budget in August 2011.
Mr. Masha, a Certified Public Accountant and member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), will serve as acting Controller of Budget for the next 90 days, pending the appointment of a substantive office holder.
Mr. Masha holds a master's degree in Finance from Leicester University and a bachelor's degree in Education from Kenyatta University.
According to a gazette notice, President Kenyatta exercised his powers under section 7(1) of the Controller of Budget Act, 2016, to designate Mr. Masha as acting Controller of Budget for a period of 90 days, effective August 27, 2019.
