On Tuesday, Wajir County Commissioner Lyford Kibaara confirmed the arrest of two chiefs and an assistant for alleged involvement in malpractice during the ongoing census, which was published on August 27, 2019.

According to Mr. Kibaara, the three individuals - Khalif Sirat, Khalid May, and Musa Abdi - were apprehended in Wajir South for inflating numbers in their respective sub-locations.

"It is true that three administrators have been arrested and investigations into the matter are underway," said Mr. Kibaara.

He emphasized that the arrests were isolated cases and not representative of the entire county, warning census officials against engaging in any form of malpractice.

Mr. Kibaara reassured the public that the county is taking measures to ensure the credibility of the census, following several incidents of irregularities across the country.
