On August 28, 2019, Uganda Airlines made its highly anticipated return to the skies, launching a new route network that includes flights to Nairobi, Juba, Mogadishu, Dar es Salaam, and Mombasa.

The airline's first commercial flight from Entebbe to Nairobi was priced at Sh28,684 ($278) for a return trip, approximately Sh14,342 one way.

Uganda Airlines aims to provide competitive pricing for Ugandan flyers, who have previously connected to various capitals through Nairobi, Addis Ababa, or Kigali on Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, or Rwandair.

According to Works and Transport Minister Monica Azuba, the new route network will offer improved connectivity and regional integration.

The airline will initially operate with four Bombadier CRJ900 planes, with two already in service and two expected to arrive in mid-September.

Uganda Airlines has also ordered Airbus A330 Neo planes, which will facilitate long-haul routes when the airline expands its network.

The airline's revival is expected to increase competition in the region, particularly for Kenya Airways, which is already facing challenges on its African and Asian routes due to declining ticket prices.
