On August 27, 2019, the UK-based Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (Cisi) and Kenya's Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (Icifa) signed a deal to develop a joint programme aimed at enhancing professional standards in the capital market.

The partnership, which is a significant milestone for Nairobi's financial services sector, will allow Kenyan practitioners to acquire professional knowledge locally and be employed or launch operations across the region, in Europe, and other markets that recognize the Cisi certification.

Cisi's Global Business Development director, Kevin Moore, said the certification will open up new opportunities for Kenyan practitioners. 'I am thrilled to endorse this arrangement which will further enhance Nairobi's stature as an international financial services centre,' he said.

Icifa chairman Jonah Aiyabei described the partnership as a significant milestone that avails new knowledge and skills to Kenyan practitioners.

Cisi first opened an office in Nairobi last year and has since been overseeing exams for African students.
