Former Premier League star Danny Murphy has expressed his concerns over Tottenham's current struggles, attributing the issue to the absence of Victor Wanyama in their set-up.

Wanyama, a Kenyan midfielder, has fallen down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino, with the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele and the preference for youngster Oliver Skipp ahead of him making him surplus at the London club.

Speaking to TalkSport, Murphy stated, "He's a very, very good player. They are struggling a bit, aren't they? I say struggling, it's been an average start."

He added, "He is exactly what you need when you are struggling. Someone who can come in and put his foot in. He can play as well and he can get the odd goal."

Murphy acknowledged that Wanyama's recurrent injuries may have contributed to his struggle for perfect form and game time, saying, "He had a couple of injuries, so maybe he's just struggled to come back the same."

Wanyama's potential departure from Tottenham has sparked concerns over the club's ability to fill the void left by his absence.
