Kenyan Olympic champion David Rudisha has spoken out about his terrifying road accident on the Keroka-Sotik road on August 25, 2019.

According to Rudisha, he was driving home to Kilgoris when his car, a light blue Toyota VX LandCruiser, was involved in a head-on collision with a bus headed to Nairobi.

"Thanking the Almighty God for the gift of life," Rudisha said in a tweet featuring a picture of his mangled car. "Saturday night around 2230hrs I survived a tragic road accident at Keroka on my way home to Kilgoris after a head-on collision with a bus plying Kisii-Nairobi route. I am fine with no injuries! Thank you for your prayers."

Fortunately, Rudisha escaped the accident with no injuries, but his car suffered extensive damage, including a smashed windscreen and damaged right and front sides.

The bus involved in the accident also sustained damage, including a damaged windscreen and driver's door, but fortunately, no one on the bus was hurt.

Rudisha recorded a statement at Keroka Police Station on Sunday afternoon and later left with a group of people.

At 29 years old, Rudisha is working hard to preserve his fitness for a possible third Olympic gold medal in Tokyo in 2020.

He had previously been forced out of the 2017 World Championships due to a quad muscle strain, but is now fully healed and focused on his training.
