Naivas Supermarkets Chairperson Simon Gashwe Mukuha, son of the retail chain's founder Peter Mukuha Kago, has passed away.

According to sources, Mukuha reportedly passed away on Monday evening at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, where he was undergoing treatment after suffering a heart attack.

Confirming his death, Naivas Chief Operating Officer Willy Kimani stated, "Mukuha has passed on Monday evening at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where he was undergoing treatment after suffering a heart attack," as reported by Daily Nation.

Kimani further assured that the supermarket chain's stability is not at risk despite the loss of its chairman.

Simon Gashwe held a 25 percent ownership of the multi-billion-shilling business, with his brother David Kimani Mukuha owning a similar share as the managing director.

Under the stewardship of Simon Gashwe and David Kimani, Naivas witnessed tremendous growth, expanding to about 50 outlets in major towns across the country.
