Beatrice Mwanyalo, a 40-year-old legal secretary, has found a way to supplement her income and empower others through a side business. In 2018, she opened a beauty and dreadlocks parlour, which has enabled her to create employment opportunities for five workers and a manager.

According to Mwanyalo, investing in good staff has been beneficial for the business, and she is passionate about empowering them to earn a living through their skills. Despite the challenges of competition, repeat customers and referrals have been the main drivers of the business's success.

As Mwanyalo notes, investing in a side hustle can go a long way in generating an extra income and creating employment opportunities for others. Her experience is a testament to the potential of side businesses to grow into big ventures.
