Jalang’o, a prominent media figure, has navigated both hardship and success in his career. Early in his rise, he faced personal challenges that highlighted societal perceptions of wealth and status. In 2017, Jalang’o was earning modest income, living in a one-bedroom apartment in Mwiki for Ksh10,000 to Ksh15,000 monthly. A relationship at the time ended when his girlfriend, a Nairobi resident, rejected him for his modest living conditions.
During a recent interview with co-host Kamene Goro, Jalang’o shared the story of the breakup. The woman, who had previously shown interest in him, reportedly distanced herself after learning he resided in Mwiki. "She asked me where I live and I told her Mwiki. She told me she has never been to Mwiki and doesn’t know Mwiki and will never ever know Mwiki," Jalang’o recalled.
The ex-girlfriend’s rejection extended beyond location. "She told me she has released me and maybe I would find my soulmate huko in Mwiki," he added. Despite this setback, Jalang’o’s career flourished. By 2021, he had become one of Kenya’s wealthiest media personalities, a trajectory that rendered the past incident ironic.
