On July 4, a public meeting was held in Elburgon, Molo constituency, to address the escalating sale and consumption of illicit brew. The meeting was attended by local administration, national government officials, security teams, and members of the public.

However, the event took a dramatic turn when Molo MP Francis Kuria Kimani arrived at the scene while visibly intoxicated. He jumped over a fence at the Elburgon Nyayo hospital and staggered into the function disorderly.

According to eyewitnesses, Kimani's speech was incoherent due to the heavy influence of alcohol. He was asked to sit down by members of the public, but he refused, leading to a heated situation. The meeting was eventually brought to a premature end, with some attendees threatening to physically harm the MP.

Adding insult to injury, Kimani was seen handing out bundles of cash to some youths to buy alcohol while he was being led to his car.

The five petitioners, Robert Njenga, Vincent Tanui, David Kibe, Samuel Mwangi, and Masese Kemunche, have attached video and photo evidence to their petition. They are seeking the IEBC to recall MP Kimani before the end of his tenure and declare him disqualified from participating in subsequent by-elections.
