On August 27, 2019, detectives from Parklands, Nairobi, apprehended three suspects accused of swindling a Westlands couple out of Sh2 million.
The trio, comprising Titus Fedha, Haji Shariff, and Suleiman Mzava, allegedly posed as witchdoctors who could use 'black magic' to facilitate the sale of the couple's property.
According to the DCI, the suspects promised the couple that they could remove witchcraft from the property, and then visited the couple's residence with a briefcase containing a snake and other paraphernalia.
Together with others still at large, the suspects convinced the couple to part with the money for buying special oil to burn the snake, after which the suspects disappeared.
During a search at Haji Shariff's house in Kileleshwa, detectives recovered a suitcase containing witchcraft paraphernalia.
The suspects are set to be arraigned and charged with obtaining money by false pretences.
