Despite the ban on public school rankings, a verified list of the top 100 institutions was compiled by the Nation Media Group, revealing academic performance metrics across Kenya.
Key Institutions in 2020 KCSE Rankings ¶
Kapsabet Boys (10.53, Nandi), Kenya High School (10.3, Nairobi), Mang’u School (10.28, Kiambu), and Alliance High School (10.18, Kiambu) led the 2020 rankings. Light Academy (10.05, Nairobi) and Mary Hill Girls (9.89, Kiambu) also featured prominently. The list included schools from diverse regions, such as Maranda (9.76, Kisumu) and Moi Girls, Eldoret (9.68, Uasin Gishu).
Other notable entries included Friends School Kamusinga (9.61, Bungoma), Moi High School Kabarak (9.59, Nakuru), and Maseno School (9.58, Kisumu). The rankings extended to institutions in Homa Bay, Kisii, and Mombasa, with scores ranging from 10.53 to 6.81. The list also highlighted specialized schools like St. Pauls Gekano (6.81, Nyamira) and Nyamira Boys High School (6.72, Nyamira).
