On August 26, 2019, a census enumerator in Homa Bay County was relieved of his duty after he was caught abandoning his census job to ride a bodaboda.
Homa Bay County Commissioner Harman Shambi stated that the enumerator was disqualified from the exercise on Monday, August 26, 2019, after he deliberately left his census job to return to his previous job of operating a boda boda.
According to Mr. Shambi, the enumerator was found transporting passengers at Kigoto village at a time when he was supposed to be enumerating residents.
Suba Deputy County Commissioner Kamau Maina added that the enumerator covered only four households on Saturday night and went back home to sleep, and on Sunday, he covered one household before leaving again.
Mr. Maina further noted that a section of Suba South residents had tried to chase away the enumerators on Sunday night, but the situation was contained by the area administrators.
