Hotel Manager in Shooting Case Remanded at Kodiaga Maximum Prison

On August 19, 2019, Dan Jaoko appeared at the Winam Law Courts in Kisumu, where he was remanded at the Kodiaga Maximum Prison as he awaits to plead to murder charges.

Senior Resident Magistrate Angeline Odawo ordered that Daniel Jaoko of Ray-Green Hotel undergo a mental health test before his next court appearance on August 29.

Jaoko is accused of fatally shooting Peter Otieno, a Coast Bus employee, on August 17, 2019, after an argument allegedly ensued when the manager parked his vehicle and blocked the victim from driving out of an estate.

According to the investigating officer, Eliab Njehia, the suspect was found with a Ceska pistol, a magazine loaded with ammunition, and a civilian certificate of firearm ownership.

With the courts on a one-month vacation, the case was transferred to Busia, and Jaoko will appear before Senior Resident Magistrate Joselyn Kimetto on August 29.
