Boda Boda Owners in Kirinyaga County Burn Police Car After Fatal Accident

A police car was set on fire by a group of boda boda owners in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, on August 25, 2019, after a fatal accident involving a boda boda and a police vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the boda boda was attempting to pass a police vehicle that was ahead of it when the two vehicles collided, resulting in the deaths of two people.

The incident occurred on the main road between Kianyaga and Kutus.

Naibu Mkuu wa Polisi (OCPD) Gichugu Afred Ng'eno confirmed the incident, stating that the driver of the boda boda died on the spot, while one passenger died at Kerugoya Hospital and two others are receiving treatment.

The OCPD also accused the boda boda driver of being drunk at the time of the accident.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are seeking to arrest those involved in the burning of the police car.
