On August 26, 2019, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announced the auction of unused aircraft at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, sparking a public outcry.
Among the buyers was Starehe Member of Parliament, Charles Njagua, better known as Jaguar, who was spotted sitting next to one of the aircraft in a photo shared on Instagram.
The aircraft, which were auctioned off for prices ranging between Sh94,300 to Sh10 million, had been abandoned at the airport for years, posing a significant safety risk.
According to reports, KAA had given owners of 15 planes a 30-day ultimatum to clear their parking fees or face auction, which led to the sale of the aircraft.
