Published on August 26, 2019, the African Games in Rabat, Morocco, have seen Kenya accumulate five medals – two silvers and three bronze – with the country yet to bag a gold medal.

Kenya's athletes, including Conseslus Kipruto, Benjamin Kigen, and Joash Kiplimo, will be competing in the track and field events at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Conseslus Kipruto, the Olympic Games and World 3,000m steeplechase champion, will lead his compatriots in the finals, which are scheduled for 8:04 pm Kenyan time.

Despite battling with recurring injuries and malaria, Kipruto expressed his readiness to compete against his nemesis, Soufiane Elbakkali of Morocco, and other top athletes in the event.

"Although I have recovered in terms of injury, I am still not at my best levels since I have also been battling malaria lately but I had to compete in Paris to seek points for the finals," Kipruto said.

Kenya's athletes will also face stiff competition from Ethiopian trio Takele Melese, Tesfaye Ketema, and Getnet Bayabl, as well as Uganda's Albert Chemutai and Boniface Sikowo.
