On Monday evening, Kenya's most valuable player, Joash Odhiambo, made headlines with his remarks about his football idol, Harry Maguire of Manchester United.

At 26 years old, Odhiambo declared that he looks up to Maguire, who previously played for Leicester City, and wishes to emulate his skills when he comes of age.

His comments came after being feted as Kenya's most valuable player in an event attended by the Principal Secretary in the Sports ministry.

Odhiambo further stated that if he were to join a better club with stable management and skilled players, he would likely perform better than he does at Gor Mahia and the national team Harambee Stars.

"I admire Harry Maguire's skill and the way he coordinates his team's defense. I want to be like him… when I grow up," Odhiambo said.

However, many Kenyans have taken issue with Odhiambo's sentiments, with some questioning his ambition and others criticizing him for not focusing on his current club and national team.
