Published on August 26, 2019, the Kenyan women's 3x3 basketball team secured a fourth-place finish at the African Games, narrowly missing out on a podium spot.

The team, consisting of Daisy Ayodi, Caroline Njeri, and Christine Akinyi, showed remarkable resilience in the face of adversity, overcoming initial setbacks to reach the semifinals.

Despite being eliminated by Nigeria in the semifinals, the Kenyans bounced back to defeat Tunisia 16-13 in the quarterfinals, with Caroline Njeri emerging as the top shooter in the women's category.

Head coach Tony Ochieng expressed pride in his team's performance, citing the challenges they faced, including a lack of an extra player due to paperwork issues and initial confusion surrounding their participation.

Ochieng emphasized the need for stakeholders, including the Kenya Basketball Federation and the government, to support the development of 3x3 basketball in the country, starting with grassroots programs in schools and colleges.

The team's focus now shifts to the Zone Five tournament in November, where they aim to build on their African Games experience.
