On August 9, 2019, Telegram released a major update on iOS and Android, introducing a range of new features that have left many wondering if it's time to switch from WhatsApp.

With over 1.5 billion users worldwide, WhatsApp remains the largest messaging service globally, handling over 65 billion messages, 100 million voice calls, and 55 million video calls daily. However, Telegram's latest update has brought it closer to catching up, with a slew of innovative features that make WhatsApp look inferior.

One of the standout features is Silent Messages, which allows users to send messages without triggering a notification sound on the recipient's phone. This is particularly useful in situations where you want to send a message without disturbing others.

Another notable feature is Slow Mode, which restricts the number of messages group chat participants can send. This can be particularly helpful in large groups with many participants, as it prevents the chat from becoming overwhelming.

Other new features include custom admin titles, timestamp links for videos, animated emoji, and an improved attachment menu on Android. Additionally, Apple users can now choose accent colors for night themes, giving them more control over their messaging experience.

Telegram's latest update is available on the App Store and Google Play Store, and the Windows and macOS versions should be updated soon to support the new features.
