Former England captain Wayne Rooney believes Paris St Germain possess the attacking quality to target Bayern Munich's high defensive line during the 2020 Champions League final. This assessment follows Olympique Lyonnais' failure to capitalize on early chances against Bayern in a 3-0 semi-final defeat in November 2018, a scenario Rooney believes PSG will avoid.

Rooney, who won the Champions League with Manchester United in 2008, highlighted PSG's front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and Angel Di María as key to exploiting Bayern's elevated defensive structure. 'They will get chances and take them,' he stated, comparing their clinical finishing to Lyon's missed opportunities in 2018.

The former midfielder noted Bayern's experience in final settings but argued PSG's attacking quality could disrupt their rhythm. 'Once they play through it, there will be opportunities for their attackers,' Rooney wrote in his Sunday Times column, referencing PSG's possession-based approach ahead of the 2020 final.

While attention focuses on Mbappé and Neymar's combined eight goals and nine assists in the competition, Rooney singled out Di María as a potential match-winner. 'His delivery, vision, and awareness are brilliant,' the 34-year-old remarked, underscoring the Argentine's work rate and tactical intelligence in the 2020 final context.
