Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o’s son Junior and his wife Wanja Wohoro have shared social media posts from their Lamu Island honeymoon, highlighting the need for local tourism support. The couple, who recently married, posted images of their stay at a high-end hotel on the island, emphasizing the region’s cultural and natural attractions.

Wanja, a musician, included a message in her post urging Kenyans to prioritize domestic travel. 'The tourism industry needs you more than before,' she wrote, accompanied by photos of sunlit landscapes and traditional Lamu architecture. The couple’s posts featured hashtags like #VisitLamu and #LocalTourism, calling on citizens to contribute to the sector’s recovery.

‘Sun was eaten, food was basked in. #lamutamu. Never been to Lamu before! Wah. Also welcome newcomers… To find joy in the middle of such a ridiculous and disappointing and scary year has been just amazing.’ ‘Karibu tho, here be music, music-making, sun, paint, decolonising enterprises, and the occasional #sadboi musings. Also gig coming up soon…’

The couple’s accommodation reportedly ranges from Sh8,000 to Sh28,000 per person per night, with meals featuring regional dishes. While specific hotel names were not disclosed, the posts suggest they are staying at one of Lamu’s premier lodging options.
