On August 26, 2019, Mr World Kenya Robert Budi landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, after an impressive show at the Mr World finals in Manila, Philippines.

Budi, who was accompanied by Ashley Mungai, the daughter of Terry Mungai, the Miss World Kenya Franchise holder and CEO, emerged second in Africa, narrowly losing to South Africa's Fezile Mkhize, the 2019 Mr World Africa.

Throughout the contest, Budi excelled in various categories, including the extreme challenge category, where he clocked the best time. He also made it to the top 20 in the finals.

Philippines' leading blogger Alvans Sebetoro was surprised that Budi did not emerge in the top six worldwide, despite predicting that he would be in the top three.

"I am very proud of representing Kenya at the world's finals and for the support I got from our franchise office headed by Terry Mungai of Ashley's," Budi said upon his arrival.

After winning in the best-dressed costume category, Budi's Maasai regalia were sold to the highest bidder at $40,000, with proceeds going towards supporting homeless children worldwide.
