On August 9, 2019, Liliya Konovalova, a 29-year-old woman from Uralsk in northern Kazakhstan, gave birth to her second twin baby, a boy weighing 2.9kg, 11 weeks after her premature daughter was born on May 24.

Doctors had noticed Konovalova's rare condition, uterus didelphys, seven years ago during her first pregnancy, which resulted in a healthy daughter. This time around, the pregnancy was more difficult as she had twins, each developing in separate wombs.

Her unborn son took his time coming into the world, finally deciding to join his twin sister. Konovalova jokingly told reporters, 'My son was in no rush to come out into the world.'

The young mother and her two babies, both weighing around three kilogrammes, were getting ready to be discharged from the hospital. Konovalova's case was the first such birth in the history of Kazakhstan, making it a miracle for the doctors and the family.

According to doctors, the gap between the babies' births is extremely rare, with one in 50 million odds of occurring. Konovalova's condition and the birth of her twins have left everyone in awe of the medical professionals who handled the case.
