On August 26, 2019, an attack on Hormuud Telecommunication Company in Gedo region left the telecom firm's premises and equipment severely damaged.

Minister Abdi Anshur Hassan of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Technology urged the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to scrutinize the repeated attacks and take action against the perpetrators in accordance with international law.
