On August 26, 2019, an attack on Hormuud Telecommunication Company in Gedo region left the telecom firm's premises and equipment severely damaged.

Minister Abdi Anshur Hassan of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Technology urged the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to scrutinize the repeated attacks and take action against the perpetrators in accordance with international law.

Kenya Defense Forces troops have been accused of detonating a mast for Somalia's largest telecommunication company for the 12th time in less than two years.

The Ministry of Posts has forwarded a comprehensive report to Somalia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailing the loss of lives and property resulting from these attacks on Somali telecommunications companies.
