On August 26, 2019, the Punguza Mizigo Bill received a significant boost after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria announced his support for the initiative.

Just hours before Kuria's endorsement, ODM leader Raila Odinga had urged Kenyans to reject the Punguza Mizigo Bill in favor of the Building Bridges Initiative.

Through his social media accounts, Kuria explained his reasons for backing the Punguza Mizigo Bill, stating that it aligns with the spirit of the movement he launched in 2015.

"In 2015, I launched Punguza Mzigo movement with a view to reducing the size (And cost) of our representation and as a critical moral pillar in a national consciousness towards public service reform and reducing our unacceptably high recurrent expenditure," Kuria wrote.

He added that while the Punguza Mizigo Bill fronted by Dr Ekuru Aukot and the Thirdway Alliance needs refinement, it is generally in line with the spirit of the movement he started.

Kuria also expressed his willingness to work with Dr Aukot and other Kenyans to deliver the Punguza Mzigo Bill, citing Wanjiku's desire for the initiative in 2015 and today.
