On Sunday, Nyanza Police Commander Dr. Vincent Makhoha revealed that police in the region had arrested five people for impersonating census officials.
According to Dr. Makhoha, two of the suspects were arrested in Homa Bay County, another two in Kisumu County, and one in Migori County.
Dr. Makhoha stated that the police were cautious during the census exercise, as they realized that some individuals wanted to take advantage of it.
He added that a census official in Homa Bay was attacked by locals who suspected him of not being from the area, but was later rescued by other residents.
Dr. Makhoha emphasized that the police will not condone such behavior and will continue to follow up on any potential masquerades or criminals.
