On a challenging day at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya's top golfer David Wakhu led his team to a ProAM victory in the first leg of the 2019/2020 Safari Tour event.

Wakhu, also the Golf Park Pro, played a stellar game, scoring 4-under par to help his team secure the win with a combined score of 86 points.

He was accompanied by amateur golfers Mohammed Essa, John Middleton, and Hilda Mugure, who all contributed to the team's success.

Speaking after the win, Wakhu noted that the conditions on the course were tough, with strong winds making it difficult to judge distances.

"The wind was blowing hard for most of the day, making it difficult to judge distances with the wind either behind or against the flight of the ball," Wakhu said.

Despite the challenges, Wakhu expressed confidence in the course's greens, saying they were receptive and would remain so throughout the tournament.

Other notable performances came from Thika Golf Clubs Pro Simon Ngige and Muthaiga's Greg Snow, who returned individual scores of 2-under par to lead their ProAM teams to third and fourth positions.

With the ProAM now concluded, attention shifts to the main Safari Tour event, which will take place from Sunday 25th August to Wednesday 28th August 2019.
