On August 25, 2019, police in Litein, Kericho County, launched a raid on a home where a 13-year-old Standard Seven girl was found selling illicit chang'aa brew.

The raid was part of an ongoing crackdown on chang'aa dealers in the area, and the police boss, Bureti OCPD Felicia Nafula, revealed that the minor's father, Alphine Koech, is a notorious chang'aa dealer who managed to flee the scene.

According to Ms. Nafula, 97 liters of chang'aa brew were recovered during the raid, with 50 liters found in a hole outside the house, 35 liters in the bedroom, and 12 liters in the sitting room.

Two men who were found in the suspect's house were also arrested and are being held together with the minor awaiting arraignment on Monday.

A hunt for Mr. Koech has since been launched, and the police are working to bring him to justice.
