Armed Attackers Kill Eight, Injure Nine Along Kenya-Ethiopia Border

Published on August 25, 2019, an armed attack by suspected Ethiopian militiamen left eight people dead and nine others seriously injured in Forole, Marsabit County.

The attack occurred at 4am on Sunday morning at the Forole watering point, where herders were sleeping after coming from grazing zones the previous day.

Forole Chief Mamo Gonicha confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers were Ethiopians who ambushed the herders while they slept around the Forole borehole.

Two of the victims were minors, aged 13 and 15 years, and among the injured were teenagers who sustained serious gunshot wounds.

The injured were taken to Forole Dispensary for treatment.
