On Saturday, August 24, 2019, the body of a seven-year-old girl was discovered in a Samburu forest.
According to Samburu central sub-county commander Alex Rotich, the body was taken to the Samburu County Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The girl's relatives explained that she had left her home with her sister to look for fruits in the forest on Friday but got lost in the thicket.
Doctors at the Samburu County Referral Hospital concluded that the girl died of hypothermia due to harsh weather conditions, as revealed by the postmortem examination results.
Medical officer John Kuria stated that the victim's body had some bruises but no internal injuries.
