During the meeting at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Biarritz, France, Trump expressed his support for Johnson, stating that he was the 'right man' to deliver Brexit for Britain.
Trump's comments came after Johnson had urged him to remove trade barriers for UK companies seeking to export to the American market, citing the need for a free-trade deal after Brexit.
Trump responded by saying that the US was working on a 'very big trade deal' with Britain, which he believed would be 'bigger than we've ever had' and would be realised 'quickly'.
Johnson also congratulated Trump on the strength of the US economy, describing it as 'fantastic', but expressed concern over the trade tensions between the US and China.
Trump also announced that the US was 'very close to a major deal with Japan', which the two sides had been working on for five months.
