On Saturday, August 24, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family made history by becoming the first Kenyans to be enumerated in the 2019 National Population and Housing Census. The President, accompanied by his wife Margaret Kenyatta and several family members, was enumerated at his Nairobi home.

During the exercise, the President reiterated his call to Kenyans to participate in the national census, emphasizing its significance in providing the government with accurate data for planning national development programs. He stated, "Mine is to say that I have formally gone through the process. We’ve completed that exercise with my family."

President Kenyatta also highlighted the importance of accurate statistics in planning for the future, saying, "You cannot plan if you do not have the right statistics." He added that the exercise was geared towards better utilization of taxes to ensure they reach the people.

According to Treasury CS Ukur Yatani, the exercise had taken off smoothly across the country, with no major hitches reported. The Principal Secretary for National Planning, Torome Saitoti, and other officials were also present during the exercise.
