On August 25, 2019, Israel launched a military operation in Syria, targeting Iranian 'killer drones' that were allegedly being prepared for deployment against the country.

According to Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, an Israeli military spokesman, the operation aimed to destroy offensive infrastructure, but fighters from the Quds Force and Shiite militias allied with Iran were present.

Conricus stated, 'It is probable that there were casualties, but you will hear that from them.'

The Syrian Army disputed Israel's claims, stating that 'the majority of the Israeli missiles were destroyed before reaching their targets.'

However, Conricus maintained that the Israeli impact was 'significant.'

Israel's military leadership, including the army chief of staff and his deputy, were on high alert during the operation, and the Northern Command was also on alert.
