On Sunday evening, a 7pm bus headed to Kampala was the target of a suspect who allegedly used drugs to steal from passengers.

Police in Nairobi have arrested a man suspected of drugging and stealing from passengers in long distance buses plying Mombasa, Nairobi, and Kampala.

The suspect, identified as Abdul Peruri alias Francis Wambugu, was found with a temporary Tanzanian passport and was handed over to police before his identities were shared on a popular platform belonging to undercover cops.

According to an officer at the Central Police Station in Nairobi, the suspect is in custody until further probe is conducted, including the kind of drugs allegedly used on his mission.

‘We have him in custody, since there was no complaint we tried to hand him over to Buru-buru police station, but there was not much gravity to hold him there, so he will be taken back to Kamukunji for further probe’ said the officer.

Abdul Juma, a bus company manager at the Mombasa bound buses terminus in Nairobi, warned passengers to be cautious of crooks who drug passengers, often targeting women and sometimes raping them inside the bus.
