John De Mathew Laid to Rest: President Uhuru and Other Leaders Attend Burial

On August 24, 2019, a burial ceremony for John De Mathew was underway in Gatanga constituency, Muranga county, with President Uhuru and other leaders in attendance.

Thousands of fans had gathered at the funeral venue as early as 7 am, eager to pay their respects to the legendary musician.

De Mathew, who had recorded 50 albums, succumbed to injuries after being involved in a fatal car accident near Blue Post Hotel in Thika last week.

Throughout his illustrious career, De Mathew released several hit songs, including 'Jenniffer Reke Tuturanie' in December 1986 and 'Peris Nduku' in 1987.

As a great musician, De Mathew's songs were often prophetic and carried powerful messages, earning him a special place in the hearts of his fans.

He left behind a legacy of two widows and seven children, who will undoubtedly miss him dearly.
