On August 23, 2019, the Team Embrace women caucus met with their Sudanese counterparts at a Naivasha hotel to discuss the inclusion of more women in the Sudan government. The meeting came a day after Abdalla Hamdok was appointed the new Prime Minister in a three-year transition to civilian rule.

The Sudanese women leaders, comprising Nagda Mansour, Munira Alsayed, and Zainab Badr Eldien, welcomed the transitional process and called for 50% of the positions in the transitional government to be held by women, as prescribed in the African Union requirements.

They lauded the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) for including a woman from their five slots as well as having a second woman under the consensus individual in the council, but noted that the number falls below the 50% African Union requirement.

The women vowed to continue pushing for meaningful and equitable participation of women in the internal and external political process in Sudan, and hope that the Prime Minister will ensure that women are included in the Cabinet.
