On August 23rd, 2019, Raila Odinga's Personal Assistant, Dennis Onyango, sent a letter to party supporters and voters announcing a mega rally at Kamkunji grounds in Kibra Constituency on Sunday, August 25th, 2019.

The rally is meant to engage party supporters with candidates vying for the constituency's vacant seat, left by the late area MP Ken Okoth on July 26th, 2019.

According to the letter, the party leader will introduce to the constituency all those who have applied for the ODM ticket to replace the late Hon. Ken Okoth as a Member of Parliament.

The event will kick off at midday, and prospective candidates will be given time to articulate their agenda for the constituency.

As part of the plans for Kibra Constituency by-election campaigns, ODM Party leader Hon. Raila Odinga is inviting party supporters and voters to a rally at the Kamukunji grounds in Kibra on Sunday, August 25th, 2019.

"The event will kick off at midday. The prospective candidates will be given time to articulate their agenda for the constituency," concluded the letter.

ODM had earlier urged aspirants who had expressed interest in vying for the seat to submit duly filled nomination forms by 5 pm on Friday, with the nomination date to be announced at a later date.

There had been intense pressure from Kibra residents, where a majority demanded a credible nomination process through party primaries, as opposed to a direct ticked being handed to a preferred candidate by the party's top brass.

The Kibra mini-poll will be held on November 7th, as earlier announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and political parties and independent candidates can submit their candidatures between September 9th and 10th according to the poll agency.

However, candidates intending to participate in the by-election as independent candidates should not have been members of any political party at least three months before the date of the by-election, as remarked by IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.
