Kenya's military has reason to celebrate after two of its officers, 2Lt Stephen Githongo Keiya and 2Lt Sally Jebii Ruto, emerged top of their class at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, UK.

Both officers are alumni of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, where they earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Disaster Management and International Diplomacy and Civil and Structural Engineering respectively.

2Lt Keiya received the prestigious Hodson's Merit Award for the best overall performance by an International Cadet, while 2Lt Ruto also performed exceptionally well.

On August 9th, 2019, the officers were commissioned at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in a ceremony attended by the Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Raria Koipaton.

According to a tweet by the Kenya Defence Forces, the officers met the Commander at the Kenya Army Hqs, where they were received and congratulated on their achievement.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is one of several military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army's initial officer training centre.
