Published on August 23, 2019, in Arusha, Tanzania, the regional volleyball titans Kwanthanze Girls and Cheptil are set to renew their epic rivalry in the final of the East African School Games.
Having shown no weaknesses in their campaign, Kwanthanze Girls effortlessly blew away their compatriots Soweto in straight sets (25-16, 27-25, 25-12) after Cheptil defeated the 2017 finalists St. Alloys from Uganda 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-10, 25-12).
Cheptil head coach Ann Birgen is beaming with confidence that her team will inflict revenge on Kwanthanze and clinch their maiden East Africa gong.
"We know their weakness and we will capitalize on it to clinch our first title because in the nationals it was just a hard luck. We defeated a strong team (St. Alloys) and this gives us good motivation ahead of the showdown," she charged.
On the other hand, Kwanthanze's head coach Justin Kigwari warned his opponents that nobody will stand on their way as they seek to defend their title.
"At this stage now it is almost difficult to wrestle the title from us and I tell our opponents they will not get any set against in the finals. We have since rectified our mistakes which almost cost us in the national finals," he warned.
