On August 23, 2019, Keroche Breweries owners Tabitha Karanja and her husband Joseph Karanja were released from custody after being detained for several days.

The couple was arrested on August 21, 2019, over allegations of tax evasion and failure to pay excise duty on their beer products.

However, the court later released them on bail pending further investigations.
